The mailing list
If you sign up on this site, we store your email address, the date and time you signed up, and the exact wording you agreed to. We don't store your IP address, and we don't track you around the site.
With your consent, we send Icarus Galaxy news and marketing emails, including development updates, Steam wishlist and release announcements, playtests, supporter rewards and offers. We only send messages covered by the wording you agreed to when you subscribed. If you joined under our earlier wording, that permission remains limited to Steam wishlist news and occasional development updates unless you give fresh consent. We will never sell your email address or give it to anyone for their own marketing. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
You must be 13 or over to join the mailing list. If you're younger, please ask a parent or guardian to sign up instead. If we find out someone under 13 has signed up, we'll delete their address.
Where it's kept
Sign-ups are stored in our own database. When we start sending emails we'll use an email service to send them for us, and we'll name that service here.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Every email we send will include an unsubscribe link. If we close the list, we'll delete it.
Supporters
If you create a supporter account on the supporter page, we keep your email address, your password (stored as a one-way hash, so nobody can read it back, us included), each payment (amount, date and Stripe's reference for it, plus any refund), the wording you agreed to before paying, the name you choose for the credits if you give one, your Steam key once it's issued, and how many times you've downloaded the build. We use them to give you your rewards and to keep the records the law requires for sales. Our lawful basis is the contract between us when you pay.
Payments are handled by Stripe and its Link service, which sells the supporter build for us and sends your receipt. Your payment details go to them and never reach this site. Account emails (confirming your address, resetting your password) are sent through SMTP2GO. Builds are downloaded from Cloudflare's storage service, which receives your IP address to deliver the file. We keep payment records for six years after your last payment, as UK tax rules require, and delete your account and the rest on request.
Game diagnostics
If you choose Share diagnostics in the game, it sends performance and crash reports to this site: things like your graphics card, processor, game settings and frame timings. Nothing is sent unless you opt in. No IP address is stored with these reports, and detailed reports are deleted after 30 days. Anonymous totals appear on our public performance page.
Cookies and third parties
This site doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. The only cookies are the ones needed to sign in: to your supporter account (it holds only your supporter number, and lasts six months from your last visit) and to the site's private admin pages.
Some of the page styling and scripts load from the jsDelivr content network, which, like any website you visit, receives your IP address to deliver them.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Email icarusgalaxygame@gmail.com and we'll sort it out.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
