We've added a holo room to the Icarus. Use the wall terminal to go exploring, and the room begins to break apart around you. Pieces of the ceiling disappear, sky shows through the walls, and grass replaces the floor.

Watch the room disappear

You can look around while it happens. Blue outlines trace the pieces of the room as they disappear, revealing more of the landscape beyond. The doorway and ceiling are still recognisable for a moment, even with trees and open sky showing through them.

Once the room is gone, you can go for a walk. This option gives you a sunny place to explore without enemies, so you can take your time and look around. There is no ship to climb out of first. You are already standing on the ground, ready to go.

The room is gone. You can now walk out into the landscape.

Or take a ship out for practice

The terminal also offers flying practice, target practice and combat training. You can fly without enemies, line up shots against three targets that do not shoot back, or take on three short waves of opponents.

For these sessions, you begin inside a training ship. Take the pilot seat when you are ready to fly. Each option has a short description on the terminal, so you know what you are choosing before you start.

Return to the Icarus

When you have had enough, press Escape and choose End Simulation. The room comes back together around you, returning you to where you were aboard the Icarus.

You can also use the menu to pause and resume. There is no need to finish a fight or find a way back before returning to the ship.

The holo room is still in development. These screenshots were taken in the game, with the camera set up for the blog.
